A note from our Founder
In 2017, I was sitting in my dining room table crying my eyes out. I had a list of mental health therapist provided to me by my insurance. I was suffering from postpartum depression and anxiety, I felt like I was drowning. To this day, NOT ONE therapist has called me back. NOT ONE!
According to the BlueDot Project, 1 out 7 mothers suffers from postpartum depression and only 15% of them actually receive treatment. The most serious concern is the fast rising rates of suicide amongst mothers during postpartum. Suicide is one of the leading causes of death among new moms. It is unjust for mothers to have to endure with so many obstacles such as dealing with insurances, calling a large number of therapists while dealing with depression and a crying newborn.
In 2019, I had enough! I quit my job and started this organization. At Junglemania we believe mothers struggling with postpartum should have an easier access to mental health services. At Junglemania Family Support, we believe it is imperative that mental health services are at low cost to no cost to a mother struggling. We need to raise awareness of what Postpartum disorders are and have services ready for mothers in need.
